Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmaceutical Scientist to join our Pharmaceutical business at our Istanbul, Turkey location. The Pharmaceutical Technical Centre in Istanbul is responsible for handling customer technical support, developing new applications for sales and marketing and internal and external training to support the business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the R&D, technical services and formulation function. This position will report to the technical leader pharma, MEA.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct scientific experiments in the laboratory on different technical projects (customer service requests and new application developments projects with a focus on orals solid dosage forms and injectables). Provide solutions to problems within work area by applying scientific and engineering principles
  • Schedule experiments and prioritize assignments to meet project objectives and deadline
  • Prepare technical reports and other communications with interpretation of data, conclusions, and recommendations for future work
  • Customer interaction (e.g. R&D, Manufacturing, Quality) in support of existing and new products through technical consultations, trial support, preparing and delivering presentations
  • Support customers with their technical challenges, related to formulation development, troubleshooting and processing
  • Facilitate technical seminars in-house at customers, as well as open seminars & webinars for multiple customers in the region
  • Actively identify new opportunities for technology development and new customer opportunities
  • Support the development of technical sales and marketing literature and presentations including publications in peer reviewed journals and industry recognized forums
  • Represent Ashland at external industry events and major technical conferences presenting and promoting research findings
  • Responsible for training and development of regional technical and sales team members on new technologies and products
  • Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
  • Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

Requirements:

  • Educated to Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s) level in Pharmaceutical sciences (or equivalent) plus pharmaceutical industry experience for 1 year
  • Knowledge about the basic and advanced concepts related to materials (polymer) sciences and pharmaceutical development, particularly in oral solid & liquid dosage forms
  • Experienced in use of major unit operations including powder compaction, wet and dry granulation, film coating and/or analytical techniques and procedures (such as dissolution, HPLC)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel specifically).
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills to share development work within the organization and with customers. Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Comfortable in working in a global, multi-cultural environment, and work collaboratively with global technology and sales teams within Ashland
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
  • The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
