The Marketing Communications and Citizenship (MCC) team, work in service of the business priorities to build market awareness for our capabilities, to build and enhance relationships with clients, prospects, and business partners, and to generate demand for our Technology and Consulting capabilities.
For the EMEA Communications team, based out of our IBM Madrid office, we are looking for hand-on, can do marketing communication specialist who want to run their internship (werk-stage) in tech and services marketing. Come and join the team. You will spend 6-12 months on different assignments, working for parts of the MCC organization and learning a ton!
Your Role and Responsibilities
Cross Communications Professional are responsible for executing all Communications disciplines within a geography, market or country.
This encompasses external and stakeholder communications, including media, analyst, influencer relations and social engagement, as well as employee and executive communications. They act as a steward for IBM’s brand and reputation and ensures consistency of messaging across all internal and external audiences. This includes the protection and enhancement of the IBM brand through the application of sound issues and crisis management practices. They take business direction from the Cross Communications Leader for the geography or market, and acts as a trusted advisor by providing strategic advice and counsel aimed at improving IBM’s reputation among all target audiences and building brand favorability and product consideration. At a functional level, the role takes direction from a senior Communications leader. The professional develops and executes a Communications strategy to support business objectives and key plays, such as Signature Moments. Develop a comprehensive Communications strategy to support the business objectives at a Geo, market or country, and aligned to the national agenda. Create compelling campaigns underpinned by corporate storytelling and aimed at influencing media and IT analysts, drive positive impact with clients, business partners, industry bodies, governments, influencers, and alumni. Work in collaboration with Government & Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sales, and the Business Partner organization. Contribute to building and sustaining a cohesive team environment by providing clarity, direction, fostering a culture of excellence, cross collaboration and recognition. Act as a spokesperson to IBM’s key audiences and communicate IBM’s position convincingly across all platforms and mediums. Possess an in depth awareness and understanding of IBM’s business strategy, offerings, and the competitive landscape with the ability to speak with authority. This includes undertaking competitive positioning to ensure that IBM’s value proposition and competitive differentiators are clearly communicated. Some professionals will develop and execute sound issues and crisis management programs at speed to reduce any negative impact on IBM’s brand and reputation and take part as the representative on the Crisis Management Team at a market or country level. Use social and digital media to amplify IBM’s message, including the use of paid media. Show an applied understanding of audience segmentation and messaging development, multichannel communication program design, and content delivery through technology platforms and tools. Set and track progress against communications measures of success for brand, geography, market or country. Develop internal communications campaigns designed to connect all IBMers to the company through our corporate character and the IBM Values and Practices. In collaboration with Human Resources, define and deliver a program of work aimed at driving employee engagement across the IBM workforce in a market or country. This is a Hybrid role, attendance to the office will be required only 3 times peer week.

To interview for the role as a communications professional supporting MEA internal comms and Lead Turkye’s comms, here’s what we are looking for (Requirements):
1) Develop and implement an internal communications strategy aligned with the company’s regional and global business objectives.
2) An expert in content Creation & channels Management.
3) Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and foster a collaborative company culture across MEA.
4) Support internal events, town halls, and regional all-hands meetings by preparing leadership messages, speeches, and presentations.
5) Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications through metrics and employee feedback.
6) Fluent Turkish language knowledge
On the external Communications front, a successful candidate need to:
1) Develop and execute an external communications strategy aligned with both regional and global business goals
2) Build and maintain strong relationships with local media, journalists, and influencers.
3) Maintain communication with external stakeholders such as partners, industry bodies, and government organizations.
4) Support executives comms and channels management.
5) Manage crisis communication plans and handle any unforeseen issues and protect brand reputation.
6) Have a general understanding of the Turkish market.
