A&H Manager, Turkey

In this role, you are responsible for setting and execution of the strategy agreed by management across the A&H Corporate and Consumer activity in Turkey. You will have full P&L responsibility for the A&H book performance, will set the goals during the planning process, ensure execution of the strategy and tactics to achieve the plan goals, recruit and motivate the team, ensure adequate underwriting authorities are in place, manage the book and underwriting process, drive the business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify future opportunities for profitable business growth and product development.
• Define and implement local strategy in coordination with regional strategy to identify and leverage new markets/new products/new channels/white space.
• Produce planned business results by a focus on quality A&H/Consumer business ensuring underwriting integrity, regular monitoring, Portfolio Management as well as implementation of underwriting and product strategies.
• Client and producer facing activity to support underwriters and BDM resources.
• Responsibility for financial planning, reporting and continuous improvement of the processes.
• Ensure continued high-quality Portfolio Management and Portfolio Reviews.
• Develop and implement business plans for direct reports. Define underwriting authority levels, allocate resources to meet business objectives, ensure the processes are adhered to. Define roles for employees, manage and review performance of direct reports and provide appropriate training/ mentoring support.
• Review, develop and implement procedures to maximise operational effectiveness and update underwriting guidelines. Oversee peer review process to ensure risks are written within guidelines or are forwarded for exception reports. Enforce regulatory and internal requirements as to workflow, control and monitoring.
• Act as an Underwriting Referral point within the delegated underwriting authority.
• Professional understanding and working knowledge of specialist product line, the insurance market and competitors. Extensive industry experience with either an insurer or broker background.
• Highly experienced in dealing with brokers and clients and insurers. Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.
• A highly experienced professional who has a strong external reputation. Experience of leadership, training, mentoring and people development. High level of personal impact and influencing skills with the ability to engage people for performance
• Language skills: Turkey and English fluent (both orally and in writing
