Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we engage our Contractors and Freelancers all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. As a Contractor or Freelancer at Canva you can work remotely in the country listed on this job ad, meaning you have ultimate flexibility. Wherever works for you, works for us. Please note, this is a 6-month contract role.

What you’d be doing in this role

As a Graphic Designer, you will be at the forefront of Canva’s visual storytelling in the SEA region. You’ll create static and motion-based assets to support campaigns and content for platforms like Meta, regional promotions, and performance marketing initiatives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our creatives reflect the unique cultures and preferences of local markets.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Designing compelling visual assets (static and motion) for regional campaigns, local activations, and evergreen creative projects.
  • Collaborating with the marketing, growth, and design teams to ensure all assets align with Canva’s visual language and brand tone.
  • Contributing to the creative testing of Meta ads and performance marketing campaigns, optimizing designs based on data insights.
  • Ensuring deliverables are tracked and completed on time while maintaining a high-quality standard.
  • Supporting Truly Local campaigns in Indonesia and the Philippines, tailoring visuals to resonate with target audiences.
  • Participating in and contribute to conceptual workshops and ideation for creative requirements
  • Tracking deliverables and ensure consistency in Canva’s brand pillars across platforms.

You’re probably a match if

  • You have proven experience working across different Southeast Asian markets (with a focus on Indonesia and the Philippines), and utilising local insights to deliver locally relevant and highly impactful creative
  • You have experience designing for static, motion, or event printed materials. Whether it’s video, motion graphics, or static assets, your work brings ideas to life in ways that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • You’re a master of translating culture into visuals. Your designs feel personal and relevant, bridging local nuances with Canva’s global brand identity.
  • You thrive on collaboration. Working with marketers, product teams, and researchers excites you, and you see feedback as a gift that sharpens your creative edge.
  • You balance ideation and execution. From big-picture concepts to pixel-perfect execution, you know how to deliver ideas that meet both creative and strategic goals.
  • Your portfolio is a testament to your skill and passion. It showcases your ability to craft designs that reflect brand values, modern aesthetics, and creative thinking.
  • You’re a pro with tools and processes. Whether it’s Figma, After Effects, or Canva itself, you’re confident in your ability to deliver efficiently and effectively.
  • You’re organized and detail-oriented. In a fast-paced environment, you manage your time like a pro and deliver your best work, even under pressure.
  • You have experience working on brand and performance campaigns for direct-to-consumer tech brands at scale, delivering high volume and global production efforts
  • Having experience as an Art Director is a plus!

As part of the International Marketing Group, our SEA Marketing team drives Canva’s growth by blending global strategies with hyperlocal insights. We aim to create meaningful connections with users in the Philippines and Indonesia through regional campaigns, localized moments, and evergreen creative initiatives across a variety of functions – performance marketing, brand, events, partnerships, social, community engagement and other growth channels.
