Category Manager in Istanbul, Turkey

Overview:

This role will lead the strategic development and execution of marketing initiatives to enhance the brand’s presence and growth in the surgical vision market. This involves a deep understanding of the ophthalmic surgical landscape, including technologies, competitive dynamics, and customer needs. The Category Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive marketing plans, driving product launch strategies, and managing brand positioning to achieve business objectives. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong analytical, creative, and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive brand strategies to achieve market share and revenue growth objectives.

  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats.

  • Create and manage annual marketing plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate product vision, strategy, and progress to internal teams, executives, and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with regional marketing and sales teams to develop effective product positioning and messaging.

  • Collaborate with business partners to communicate effectively with the consumers.

  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners, ensuring alignment with the product strategy and goals.

  • Manage relationships, contracts, and expectations with third-party providers as needed.

Market Positioning and Competitive Analysis

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor activities.

  • Adjust product strategies based on evolving market dynamics to maintain a competitive edge.

Product Launch & Event Planning

  • Coordinate and execute product launches, working closely with marketing manager, PED and sales teams.

  • Provide support for marketing initiatives, including creating collateral and documentation.

  • Monitor product performance post-launch and adjust strategies as needed.

Communications and Working Relationships

Within J&J: Sales & Key Account Manager, Medical Team, Logistics , Legal, HCC, Privacy, Finance & Customer Service

Outside J&J: ECPs , KOLs, Distributors, Sales Assistants, Decision Makers, Vendors, Hospitals

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Taking active role as a part of local and global projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Product/Brand/Category Management or a related role within Medical Devices sector (preferably in Ophthalmic Surgery)

  • Having also sales experience is an asset

  • Prove and inspire the behaviors that reinforce Our Credo.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical mindset

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare market

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to travel without an obstacle

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Fluency in written and spoken English as well as Turkish
