Director of Engineering

Overall Responsibility

  • Establish engineering guidelines and standard operating procedures to maintain excellent standards of quality and reliability in the property.
  • Establish a monthly reporting system in order to monitor Key Performance Indicators, guest room maintenance, energy consumption, operational and energy expenses, project updates, LQE activities and other specific tasks.
  • Establish, implement and maintain the FLHSS procedures, including relevant business continuity management plans and standard operating procedures.
  • Manages the combination of employing engineering colleagues and engineering outsourcing companies to minimize operating expenses.
  • Formulate and implement strategic direction for the hotel’s environmental sustainability and protection activities and involvement in the local community.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the preventive maintenance programs for all assets of the hotel.
  • Ensures that the hotel operates in conformity with the local codes and regulations related to all areas under the positions responsibility. Updates the Hotel/General Manager and EXCO of any changes or amendments that will affect the hotel 

Hotel Asset / Project Management

  • Prepare annual and Five-Year capital plan.
  • Manage all CAPEX and POMEC projects in accordance with the group policies and procedures.
  • Manages the Energy and Water Management Program
  • Oversee the strategic direction of general projects related to the enhancement of the hotel. The project management covers the areas of planning, administration, implementation and evaluation of financial results of the projects.

Financial Responsibility

Support the Hotel/General Manager and Financial Controller in the following:

  • Monitor and prepare forecasts on the hotels POMEC expenses.
  • Prepare a summary and analysis of the annual POMEC budget.
  • Prepare annual POMEC budgets.
  • Participate in the formulation of the strategic business plan of the hotel
  • Manage the engineering contractor selection and documentation as per the relevant MOHG policy and procedures.

Human Resources

Support the Hotel/General Manager and Human Resources Director in the following:

  • Recruitment and selection of qualified technicians and engineers.
  • Manage the engineering workforce in compliance with the hotel human resources policies and procedures as well as local codes and regulations.
  • Ensure that the Legendary Quality Experience standards are implemented and respected by all colleagues.
  • Ensures that engineering colleague’s performance is monitored and that individual career development programs are developed.
  • Labour cost management.
  • Community programs.

Information Technology

Support ITT Director to initiate the deployment of technology to improve the sophistication of the engineering departments as well as the following:

  • Telecommunication system upgrades or enhancements.
  • Assist in annual maintenance of the contingency systems that support IT&T equipment and systems.
  • The roll out of computerized maintenance management system
  • Research innovating technology solution that improve the engineering function productivity and effectiveness.

Requirements – Experience, Skills, Education, Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills in all aspects: verbal, written and non-verbal
  • Excellent command of Turkish and English
  • Innovative, approachable, open-minded and fair
  • Flexible work hours to meet the demands of a 24 hour operation
  • High energy and hands on in the operation
  • Must be able to work in a team and independently on occasions
  • High standards and very professional
  • Engineering studies such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Services.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years as Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering within luxury and premium hotels.
  • Excellent knowledge of major building systems, power plant, air conditioning system, kitchens etc.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in energy management.
  • Quality driven with a passion for excellence in guest service and satisfaction
  • Possess excellent organizational and administrative skills, result oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, team player with good leadership skills
  • Experienced user of office automation applications, including Word, Excel amongst others.
