Amal is a non-profit Syrian non-governmental organization established to provide life-saving aid and services to the most vulnerable people, strengthening their resilience, advocating for their basic rights, and also contributing to providing recovery and revitalization programs for societies that war torned.

Amal Organization is a relief and development organization, was established in early 2013 and the organization was licensed and registered in Turkey – Gaziantep on 6/6/2014.

Purpose of the Job:

To be responsible for providing oversight and technical support to Amal’s GBV and Gender Based Violence prevention and response program in Northwest Syria, to improve the enabling environment for the women and girls at risk. The GBV Protection Manager will ensure that the interventions are technically sound, in line with international humanitarian standards and protection principles, and are properly meeting the needs of the women and girls victims and survivors of GBV, in the target communities. The GBV Protection Manager will work collaboratively with other sectors of Amal team including WASH, Shelter/Rehabilitation, FSL, Child Protection, and General Protection.

Main responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and understanding the project scope (requirements, assumptions, constraints, and risks)
  • Technical knowledge in GBV protection and case management.
  • Creation of the project management plan to meet the needs of the project and the organizational process and procedures.
  • Participate in overseeing of authorization and performance of activities to produce the project’s expected deliverable results.
  • Measure and monitor the project’s progress and appropriate actions to meet the project objectives.
  • Follow-up funds received for the project in terms of receiving and dispensing and documentation of all funds
  • Maintain the principles of humanitarian work and community based approached during the implementation of the project.
  • Looking for opportunities to creatively meet the needs of vulnerable populations while ensuring the project remains in line with the declared policy and demonstrated sensitivity of local authorities toward beneficiaries and in line with best practice and international standards.
  • Help hire, supervise, and manage the performance of the community program in the field to effectively serve their roles in community.
  • Submit monthly financial and operational reports of the project to the program manager.
  • Any other duties assigned by line manager when required.

About the applicant

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • 3-4 years of demonstrable experience in Protection project management in NGOs and/or INGOs
  • Full professional proficiency in English, Arabic, and/or Turkish is a strong asset.
  • Inter-personal skills to influence and guide staff and partners in identifying programming opportunities and resolving program challenges.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Amal Organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in program planning, and all aspects of project management.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership and supervision of staff and in building and maintaining a high-performing team.
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to adapt to different, often stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to write a clear and well-argued assessment and project reports.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Experience in promoting children’s rights and gender, including participation in programming, design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Turkish Nationality is preferable.

Desired

  • Experience and knowledge of Protection projects
  • Experience in designing and managing projects with international donors
  • Demonstrable experience engaging with national stakeholders and partners
  • Demonstrable experience in building the capacity of local NGOs, and government bodies and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders.
