Product Owner (Business Solutions)

Company Description

We are looking for a Product Owner and you will be a focal point for the strategic delivery of our Enterprise Business Solutions roadmaps, helping the business to convert strategic roadmaps into defined product requirements and drive customer value for our business.

The Product Owner reports to the Head of Product Delivery in the Business Solutions Team, with no direct management responsibilities. This role works within a multidisciplinary team within an enterprise technology matrix-managed context, delivering value for a range of business stakeholders.

This is a home based position and so we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

In the role, you will take on the critical task of building product roadmaps, prioritizing and managing delivery backlogs, ensuring that we align with the Reach strategy, support stakeholder outcomes and maximize business value. 

The day-to-day responsibilities also include active engagement with business stakeholders and delivery partners. Whether it’s stand-ups, retrospectives, or planning meetings, you will be contributing and guiding the process, ensuring everyone we deliver satisfies our users’ requirements and delivers real value to the business.

One of the standout contributions will be your ability to spot opportunities for enhancing existing products. By gathering insights and feedback from internal colleagues and delivery partners, you will find ways to drive improvements. You will also have a keen eye for innovation, identifying new product opportunities that align with internal business roadmaps and leveraging emerging applications and technologies.

Your analytical skills will shine as you dissect the product development process, always on the lookout for improvements based on valuable feedback from internal teams and third-party delivery partners. Driven by a commitment to continual learning, you’ll consistently expand your knowledge of the business and its products, aiming to provide unparalleled support and insight.

Qualifications

The Ideal candidate

This opportunity has capacity for growth, so you may come in as a more junior product owner and, through on the job experience, coaching and formal training, become more senior within the role.

The ideal candidate will come from a background as a Business Analyst or Project Manager or having worked within a project environment, looking to transition into a Product Owner role. While having experience in the news and media sector would be advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.

Experience in a business-facing support role, dealing with internal stakeholders, is essential. You should also be familiar with working in a matrix-managed delivery environment, coordinating with both internal stakeholders and external delivery partners.

A solid understanding of product management, project management, and engineering management applications is important. Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Miro, and Trello would be particularly beneficial.

There are no specific qualifications required for this role; however, any certifications or training related to product or scrum methodologies would be considered an asset.
