Job Description

The Quality & Packaging Manager position will be a key owner of issue resolution and improvement opportunities, through collaboration with Operations, Sourcing, Product, and Suppliers on new and current products.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build and grow strategic relationships with key stakeholders by providing timely and accurate information in support of business needs.
  • Thorough understanding of full commodity value stream, internal and Supply Chain.
  • Lead problem solving through effective root cause identification, containment, verification, and sustainment.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to assist with resolving quality issues and identifying and supporting new business strategies.
  • Development, communication and training of QMS system.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics to include compliance, quality, delivery and total cost in support of MLLC objectives.
  • Key owner in supplier packaging qualification process including new supplier assessment
  • Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
  • Work closely with suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing.
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
  • Work closely with Sourcing to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Work with the manufacturing department to ensure that the packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer expectations.

Organizational Relationship

Position reports to VP Quality 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Operations; Supply Chain or Quality experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing processes with a high degree of analytical and problem solving skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, etc.)
  • 50% travel required; ability to travel internationally required
  • Advance English
