Job Description

The Santen Project Management organization provides critical operational support to drive development of a highly specialized, global ophthalmology portfolio. The Project Management　organization is focused on aligning day-to-day delivery with Santen’s organizational objective of　developing products that satisfy medical needs, bringing hope to patients and their loved ones.

As an R&D Project Manager (PM) within Santen’s Project Management organization, you will be a key contributor to global cross-functional teams responsible for planning and executing on product development. R&D PMs will report to the Lead Project Manager (Lead PM)/ Project Manager (PM)/ Head of Project Management. You work alongside Santen’s seasoned Project Managers to provide support for and coordination of global cross-functional teams, collection of data and insights to inform on project status, and management of timelines & costs to ensure successful delivery of high quality ophthalmology products. Our R&D PMs are highly motivated and detailed oriented individuals with a desire to learn from and contribute to cross-functional project teams.

• Manage integrated, cross-functional project timelines and budgets in collaboration with the Project Manager to drive efficient delivery
• Collaborate cross-functionally to collect key insights related to project status, assess actual performance against planned, and prepare reports to inform on potential risks to delivery
• Proactively identify, escalate, and manage project risks and issues
• Manage meeting logistics, including scheduling, documentation of minutes, ADI logs, etc.
• Ensure all projects comply with Santen project management policies and standards

Qualifications

• Team player with strong interpersonal skills, who communicates in a clear, concise and articulate manner – verbally and in written form
• Bring an open-minded attitude and curiosity to the global team environment and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural nuances and ways of working across regions
• Actively listen and engage with team members to build lasting relationships across teams
• Be flexible and adjust to meet changing priorities while maintaining continuity of delivery
• Embrace challenges and persevere through obstacles
• Think critically and apply an analytical mindset when solving problems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software in a Windows environment; experience using a project management software program such as Microsoft Project is required

Education and Experience

• BA / BS degree in life sciences required
• 1-3 years of experience managing projects, scientific / healthcare experience preferred
• Fluent or native level of Japanese, English and Chinese language skills
