Senior Platform Product Manager, Security – ANZ

Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you’re near one), at home or a bit of both, it’s up to you.

About the Security Group

The Security Group is responsible for protecting Canva systems and data from information security threats. Our teams work together, and with other groups, to deliver preventive and detective controls and processes that reduce security risk across Canva. The group runs programs across Enterprise Security, Application Security, Risk Management, and Threat Detection and Response domains.

We’re a highly collaborative group, striving to make security a default part of how every Canvanaut works. We believe in reducing friction for Canvanauts so they can innovate quickly without compromising on security. This means regularly engaging with other teams to ensure our solutions address real-world needs, meet compliant requirements, and scale as Canva’s user base and product suite evolve.

About the role

As a Security Product Manager, you’ll embed robust security practices into Canva’s platform to protect data and infrastructure, maintaining the trust of enterprise customers, regulators, and everyday users. As Canva scales, secure-by-default systems become increasingly critical. With engineering you’ll drive how we safeguard the platform while enabling product innovation, empowering our engineering teams to move faster and meet the needs of hundreds of millions of users. By collaborating with engineers, analysts, and other product managers, you’ll set the product vision, define success metrics, and drive a roadmap that balances performance, reliability, and user impact across internal, consumer, and enterprise use cases.

As a Platform Product Manager, you’ll be part of a highly talented group of product managers who are continually evolving what it means to build products and capabilities for both internally and externally facing teams. You’ll have an opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of an area of product management that isn’t always talked about, but is truly essential to truly scaling world-class product and engineering organisations.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

  • Partner with engineering leadership to refine the vision and strategy for internal security, showing how the future state will drive impact through a prioritised roadmap.
  • Translate complex internal security needs into intuitive products and services, collaborating with engineers on solutions that strike the right balance of security and usability.
  • Drive innovation in security capabilities to stay ahead of emerging threats and industry regulations.
  • Define and articulate measurable security outcomes and impact for key initiatives.
  • Plan out adoption timelines with buy-in from internal teams, balancing their immediate needs to deliver impact with long-term sustainability and efficiency.
  • Proactively communicate product vision, roadmap progress, and upcoming changes to stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
  • Act as a key security stakeholder in Canva’s efforts to build new admin and security capabilities for customers.

What we’re looking for

As a solid Security PM, you will have well-developed skills in considering different security requirements and applying them into developing internal security capabilities that help us meet and exceed the expectations of our internal teams and external stakeholders. You will need a strong analytical lens to complement collaboration with numerous partner teams across multiple work streams, in order to achieve impact through enterprise adoption of your solutions.

You will also have to be good at balancing multiple perspectives to pinpoint challenges and solutions—supporting legitimate business operations that require reliable systems, while effectively mitigating security threats.

We’d love to see:

  • Proven experience in security and product management across areas such as identity and access management, zero trust, encryption, key management, and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of how protecting customer and company data is a fundamental trust enabler for business impact.
  • A track record of successfully delivering large-scale security projects in fast-paced organisations.
  • Cross-functional fluency – able to speak the language of engineering, data, operations, and business teams to achieve impactful outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
  • Ability to balance long-term vision with timely delivery of outcomes that bring us closer to that vision, especially in a high-growth environment.
  • An innovator who is willing to roll up their sleeves and dive into complex technical and organizational challenges, making decisions both with and without data.

What’s in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard – and we do – but you’ll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a range of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.

Here’s a taste of what’s on offer:

  • Equity packages – we want our success to be yours too
  • Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers
  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
  • Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and supports you personally
