Job Description

  • To execute inspections upon request by the GIS Manager in all product lines for which training has been received.
  • To schedule and oversee execution of all inspection activities being handled by junior inspectors within Textile division and ensure inspection timelines are strictly adhered to.
  • To coordinate daily movement of self and those of subordinate inspectors in a manner that maximizes efficiency, cost control and time utilization for field operations.
  • To fully comply with inspection rules applicable to Textile inspection execution according to Inspection Job Order, Quality System Procedures and/or any other applicable document/manual related to inspection execution and reporting.
  • To conduct inspections as per client’s instructions but within company, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • To prepare and draft reports of inspections and submit for approval to the line manager prior to submission to the client.
  • To ensure that client’s requirements and specific needs are expeditiously met and that professionalism and high standards and level of integrity are consistently maintained during inspection.
  • To ensure (where applicable) that field subordinates under your control are adequately briefed and competent to carry out day to day activities in a professional manner in line with SGS Code of Ethics and Integrity and SGS Rules for Life.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Garment/Textile Engineering science or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Good knowledge of Inspection and statistical sampling plans.
  • Good knowledge of Garment inspection in Ethiopia. Actual work experience in this sector will be advantageous.
  • Decisive, assertive, results and detail oriented.
  • Ability to apply good judgment and act according to the SGS standards of ethics and integrity
  • Ability to read/interpret technical documents and work instructions and write routine technical reports related to inspection services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to speak effectively before clients.
