Program Summary
KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey. Our services ensure smooth operations, allowing Air Force and government personnel to focus on their missions. We provide program management, civil engineering, morale, welfare, and recreation support, among other essential services. Awarded by the Air Force Installation Contracting Center, our contract spans a five-year base period with three one-year options, reflecting our commitment to excellence and operational support.
Job Summary
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for structuring programs, policies, procedures, and processes related to environmental strategies. This role involves conducting training and audits, providing technical advice, and report preparation. The specialist ensures compliance with applicable contract requirements, Federal, State, and Local regulations with a keen focus on due diligence. Additionally, the environmental specialist interfaces with clients and regulatory agencies to achieve optimal environmental standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Will be responsible for managing the Environmental Management System (EMS) and drinking water/wastewater/stormwater programs.
- Will be responsible for evaluation of potential effects on the environment through use of the Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP) and the monitoring of base-wide storage tank – petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), spill clean-up, and remediation programs.
- Perform field inspections, develop, and execute training programs, data entry, conduct meetings/briefings, and analyze sampling tests if required.
- Familiar with Groundwater (GW) monitoring procedures and experienced in quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of the GW wells, surveys, studies, and feasibility studies.
- Qualified expert with the Turkish environmental regulations related to environmental and natural sciences.
- Capable of collecting soil and water samples for review and assessing analytical data.
- The ability to prepare briefings in accordance with (IAW) the USAF requirements and present findings to interested parties.
- Ensure both USAF and base maintenance contractor(s) follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations laws related to the environmental programs.
- Should be qualified to review Environmental Protection Plans, EIAP documents, project submittals including but not limited to construction as-builts, Statements of Work (SOW), the UABOS Performance Work Statement, and all other applicable documents.
- Maintain management information systems for tracking, reporting, and monitoring of environmental programs.
- Develop and recommend solutions to eliminate pollution and improve the environment quality.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations, for health and safety programs.
- Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Turkish.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or any other related degrees.
- Turkish Citizenship.
- Capable to speak, read, write, and understand English Language “Minimum Level III”.
- Have a current driver’s license (Minimum “B” Class).
- Fulfilled Turkish Military Obligation.
- Capable of obtaining a Turkish Security Clearance.
- Ability to obtain or hold valid passport, the capability of traveling for work or for training outside Turkey.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or any other related degrees.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in this field and/or similar position.
