Program Summary

KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and Turkey. Our services ensure smooth operations, allowing Air Force and government personnel to focus on their missions. We provide program management, civil engineering, morale, welfare, and recreation support, among other essential services. Awarded by the Air Force Installation Contracting Center, our contract spans a five-year base period with three one-year options, reflecting our commitment to excellence and operational support.

Job Summary

The Second Cook serves as a key member of the food service team, responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of meals for military personnel. The role involves a combination of cooking, food safety, and kitchen management tasks. The Second Cook also assists in supervising junior kitchen staff, mentoring culinary skills, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Cooks in preparing meals for large numbers of personnel, ensuring food quality and adherence to military standard recipe system.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining area.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards (e.g., Tri-Services Food Code, HACCP, OSHA).
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment (e.g., stoves, ovens, grills, fryers) to prepare meals efficiently.
  • Provide high-quality food service to military personnel and ensure that all meals meet customer expectations.
  • Train and mentor junior personnel, such as Food Service Workers, in cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and food prep.
  • Performs all other duties assigned. 

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have 2 years’ experience in a large-scale government food service operation.
  • Must be able to speak and read English at Level 2

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year as an Apprentice Cook

All positions require the applicant to obtain and pass a medical physical that is certified by a doctor.

All positions require a current and favorable Turkish Security background check.

All male candidates must have completed their military service.
